The Parks Recreation & Sports Centre is one of eight recreation centres in the state managed by the YMCA, to achieve Fitness Australia Quality Accreditation.

YMCA South Australia has become the first organisation in the country to have all its facilities achieve accreditation by the peak national industry body. It confirms the leading not-for-profit’s commitment to providing outstanding quality, value, safety and customer service at the multi-purpose facility in Angle Park.

The Parks YMCA Area Manager Craig Hortin, accepted a certificate of compliance from Fitness Australia CEO Barrie Elvish at a formal presentation in Adelaide on Wednesday 22 January, attended by state MP Stephen Patterson.

“The effort to provide the absolute best service and operational standards across both our centre and the YMCA as an organisation has been acknowledged independently and that is extremely satisfying. It’s a huge source of pride to our local staff team who are passionate about their community and providing the best experience possible for everyone at the centre,” he said.

The Accreditation provides confidence, not only to our members, guests and the community, but also to our two Council partners as we aim to deliver the best from one of their most valuable community assets. It provides recognition and assurance that the Y is delivering on its promises and remains the state’s leading recreation provider.

During the ceremony Mr Elvish congratulated the team from YMCA South Australia for the ground-breaking achievement that demonstrates business leadership and their commitment to local South Australian communities.

“Our business accreditation program is designed to continuously build on the quality of a fitness business, with customer care and value being the ultimate goals,” he said.

Quality Accreditation Program participants are required to undertake a rigorous assessment of six key areas including professionalism, safety, customer care, information and knowledge, people and leadership. It provides the opportunity to improve the effectiveness of their business, provide greater value to their customers and raise community expectations of customer care and service.
